Climate Resilience & Sustainability: Collections Care for the Future

This summer, the DHPSNY Dialogues series highlighted how cultural heritage organizations can prepare for the future through climate resilience and sustainable practices. In the July 15 program, Climate Resilience & Sustainability: Collections Care for the Future, co-facilitators Aria Camaione-Lind (Aria Strategies) and Rebekkah Smith Aldrich (Mid-Hudson Library System & Sustainable Libraries Initiative) explored the impacts of climate change on New York’s cultural institutions, the importance of emergency preparedness, and how sustainability has become a new core value of librarianship.

The session underscored how libraries and cultural organizations can strengthen their role as vital community infrastructure—preserving collections, supporting social cohesion, and planning for climate adaptation.
