The Sustainable Libraries Initiative (SLI) is delighted to announce a partnership with the American Library Association (ALA) to create a strategic plan for library professionals to address climate change. The SLI’s mission is to empower library leaders to advance environmentally sound, socially equitable, and economically feasible practices to intentionally address climate change and co-create thriving communities.

On Sunday, September 17, 2023, the Sustainable Libraries Initiative's Administrators, joined tens of thousands of climate change activists at The March to End Fossil Fuels in Midtown Manhattan, New York City.

Mark your calendars! We are excited to announce the upcoming Northeast Summit on Climate Adaptation for Library Facilities Virtual Summit, scheduled for November 8, 2023, from 9:30am to 12:30pm. Registration will open in August. Keep an eye out for further updates!

September is National Preparedness Month (NPM). Launched in 2004, NPM is FEMA’s annual preparedness outreach campaign. NPM is sponsored by FEMA’s Ready Campaign. The Ready Campaign aims to educate and empower Americans during NPM, and throughout the year, to prepare for and respond to all types of emergencies.
