The Sustainable Libraries Initiative is pleased to announce that we have certified our first library system through the Sustainable Library Certification Program. The Mid-Hudson Library System (MHLS), led by Executive Director and SLI Co-Founder, Rebekkah Smith Aldrich, has earned this designation.

Brentwood Public Library in Brentwood, NY is now officially a Certified Sustainable Public Library! They are the thirteenth public library in the United States to become certified and the eighth in Suffolk County, NY.

The Sustainable Libraries Initiative is celebrating the certification of our second School Librarian, Paula Michalak. Paula is the District Librarian at the Silver Creek Central School District in Silver Lake, NY.

The  Sustainable Library Certification Program is now available nationwide! This program, originating in New York, is available to public libraries across the country. Our first outside of New York enrollment, San Diego County Library, has joined our Certification Program. Read more about why they joined in our press release.
